Ripped from the headlines of our homeschooling days!

Week 2

On Monday, it was our son’s first day of band.  He is the youngest in the homeschool band, but so far he is holding his own.  He is playing the clarinet.  They covered making sounds and the first very basic fingering positions. Monday is also Correspondance Day, so he wrote to the two grandmothers and a close friend.

On Tuesday we did some more work on place value in Math.  We looked at an atlas & looked up where both of the grandmothers live; where the hurricanes hit; the state of PA where a friend of ours just moved to; places where two friends live: Fresno, CA and the country of Argentina.  We also did our new Bible verse for the week (Ephesians 4:29).  We read two pages from his book on cat care, and he had to summarize what he learned. We also watched a really cool program on the Travel Channel about the top 10 “Fun Food Factories” in the US.  We got to see how candies, pretzels, cereal, ice cream and other foods are made, as well as learning a little bit about the US cities where the factories are located. Tuesday is also our day to go to Spanish class with Ms. Susy!

Today is Wednesday, and so far we went over our books of the Bible (which we do daily) and our new Bible verse.  For Math, he did a worksheet on telling time after a discussion of quarter-hour time.  He read and summarized another page from his cat care book.  He worked a puzzle of the US that had states and their capitols. This afternoon he has his second vocal lesson.
